Today, we celebrate the 𝐔𝐍 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲. It is a very important date for Khemara: a day to promote gender equality and women's rights.
As part of its project for the Elimination of Violences against Women in rural communities of Tboung Khmum Province, Khemara has organized two Women's Day events in collaboration with local authorities and with support from ADD International.
The first event took place on the 1st of March in Thmey Kandal Village, Preas Theart Commune, Ourang Ov District, and with 201 participants, including 129 women, 29 local authorities and 52 youth from 2 local high schools. Khemara also invited 15 women from the Self-Help Groups of our project for the Elimination of Gender-Based Violences.
Then, on the 4th of March, the second event was held in Srai Saem Village, Chiro II Commune, Tboung Khmum District, and gathered 76 participants (of which 59 women), including 19 local authorities and 20 youth, .
Our Women's Day events, organized under the theme "Women and Girls in the Digital Transformation", were marked by the participation of important women such as their excellencies Ny Chantyda, Deputy Provincial Governor of Tboung Khmum, Khiev Samoun from the Commune Women Crisis Center and Kheang Makara, Deputy District Governor of Orang Ov.
𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝, 𝐊𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 i𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.
We are working everyday to empower women to realize their full potential, and to recognize and access their rights.
Khemara organizes health campaigns and education programs, creates self-help groups for women and provides assistance to victims of gender-based violences along with trainings to local authorities and community members in order to eliminate all gender inequalities.
